This upgrade is only available for those buying a 383 or 406 rotating assembly with a cast nodulur 2pc. rear main seal crank, using 6.0" rods. This is NOT available on the 5.7 rod assemblies.
 
Do not purchase this item unless you are buying a SBC 383 or 406 2pc RMS rotating assembly, short block kit or engine. with 6.0" rods.

This Scat crank is similar in design to the external crank offered in our assemblies, but it is internally (neutral) balanced in the front and rear. Running a crank that is neutral balanced will allow the use of a non-weighted front damper and a neutral flexplate or flywheel. This will eliminate the additional mass on those items. Replacing the damper or flexplate, if it's ever needed, becomes a simple procedure, and assures that the balancing is not affected. It's well known that under high rpm conditions, the crank on externally balanced engines is at risk of breaking much more than those with an internal setup.
